The company has selected Flint Group and the single-pass Xeikon IDERA digital printing technology as its technology partners in this OEM model. Based in the greater Cologne area (Germany), packaging.digital will serve the corrugated manufacturers and converters in German-speaking countries and Benelux from November 2023 onwards. The company ambitions to deliver its B2B clientele a combination of cutting-edge, high-quality digital printing technology and in-depth expert consultancy.
Right moment, right time, right market
The packaging.digital business model delivers OEM packaging services for integrated corrugated cardboard plants, converters, stationary trade, and e-commerce. This model targets those manufacturers and processors of corrugated packaging and displays that do not have in-house digital print production facilities. The packaging.digital operators bring a wealth of experience in corrugated production and in additional processing (die-cutting, gluing, finishing). This way, the packaging.digital founders aim to be the leading OEM packaging service provider that not only tailors to the market's requirements today but also proactively anticipates future challenges.
On selecting the Flint Group, Xeikon IDERA Technology
When researching digital printing technology, packaging.digital found that only the Xeikon IDERA technology met their stringent criteria. The 100% water-based inks, with no UV components, meet environmental and sustainability targets, while the technology operates at the lowest known power consumption for digitally printed corrugated formats on the market. In addition, Xeikon IDERA can print on coated and uncoated sheets up to 1,600mm wide in the F to BC flute material bandwidth.
Mario Deilen, co-CEO of packaging.digital explains why Xeikon made for the perfect fit: "We want to push the possibilities of digital printing further and be the partner converters need without investing in their own digital print resources. Xeikon IDERA is the only digital printing technology that allows us to realise individualisation, handle short runs, and deliver at the speed the process of corrugated packaging and display production requires. Xeikon IDERA enables us to think outside the box and bring new concepts to the market."
"We wanted our service offering to be profitable, sustainable, and smart for everyone," Sebastian Wolff, co-CEO of packaging.digital, adds. "That includes making the process experience as user-friendly and complete as possible so converters can focus on creating and delivering the added value brands and consumers demand."
Jens Henrik Osmundsen, Head of Sales at Xeikon IDERA, expressed excitement about the partnership, saying: "We look forward to supporting packaging.digital in making the benefits of digital printing of corrugated formats available to companies of all sizes. Xeikon IDERA is designed to bring high-quality digital printing to the corrugated market and the packaging.digital new OEM service model exemplifies just that."
