Catching the eye of the consumer can be achieved by using metalized substrates, materials that “shine” - standout. Through the label design you can increase the impact even more. Color-Logic, specific design software program for printing on metallic substrate, enables various effect
Watermark-FX™
The watermark effect can be used to make a selected artwork area seem to vanish and reappear when placed within metallic areas on the design. In the beer label shown here, a Color-Logic watermark pattern was embedded in the background. This simple but very effective technique adds an extra dimensional layer to the design. When light bounces off the background, the embedded pattern appears and disappears as the print is moved.
Dimensional-FX™
Dimensional-FX enables the graphic designer to make a selected artwork area appear to change color and dimension, from a lighter to a darker hue, as light reflects from the design. This feature provides an additional level of security within a visually stunning design. Color-Logic Dimensional-FX also can be used to place minute patterns in the background of packaging, allowing the designer to create complex, light changing patterns without detracting the viewer’s focal point from the actual product.
What is the value of digital printing?
With both the Xeikon dry toner press and Xeikon Panther printing of metalized materials feasible. As the opacity of dry toners are different from UV-inks, a visual difference can be noticed between the printed output. It is up to the eye of the beholder what carries his/her preference. As the special effects are created through the design software a certain flexibility does present itself.
Simplicity : there is no complexity in printing as the embellishing feature is created in the design
Creativity : as the embellishing feature is created digitally there is no limit in creativity
High value embellishing with low cost as no tooling, setup time is required. all is printed in 1 single pass
Minimal waste : as the effects are created during printing no expensive substrate is waste in secondary embellishing processes
